Yvonne de Carlo was the Hollywood heartthrob, who ruled the American film industry for more than two decades. Yvonne’s journey took place at the dawn of cinema and we can undoubtedly say that she reigned her time. Born in 1922, Yvonne de Carlo was a Canadian-American star, whose performance in the classic Hollywood movies made her internationally famous.
Yvonne had a tough childhood as her father left the family when she was very young. Yvonne’s mother wanted her to be in Hollywood, so she made her attend dance and singing classes at a very early age.
Her first break was at a musical, where she sang a song in 1941. Yvonne was not getting a big role even after a long period of being in Hollywood. She appeared in many unaccredited roles of short spans for more than two years. By this time, she did movies like “Harvard, Here I Come!” and “Deerslayer”. But it was not enough for her at that name.
Her biggest break came in 1945 when she landed the lead role in the movie “Salome, Where She Danced”. This movie made her known in the industry as a result Universal signed her in. Her first movie with Universal Pictures was “Frontier Gal” in 1945. Then she played the role of Cara de Talavera in the movie “Song of Scheherazade” in 1947.
Yvonne died at the age of 84 in 2007 because of a heart failure though she remains in the heart of millions of her fans.
