Starting from “The Curse of Cleopatra”, the CBS series Blood and Treasure attracted a massive fan following. Even though Season 2 was announced, CBS lacks any attempt to bring it to the screen. Now, a crucial question arises- are Blood and Treasure canceled?
A Peek Into The Storyline
Dany McNamara is a former FBI officer and an expert in antiques and artifacts. He currently focuses on tracing, recovering, and repatriating invaluable artifacts that are stolen. Lexi Vagiri is the female lead of the series, who is an artifacts thief. Her mother is a descendant of Cleopatra.
Transcending all their differences, backgrounds, and inclinations, they join together to hunt out for Karim Farouk. He was thought to be killed by a drone-based attack, but Farouk surprisingly survived. Farouk is an Egypt-based leader of a terrorist organization and musters funds for his activities by selling stolen artifacts.
The search operation got a boost when Dany McNamara’s mentor, Dr. Ana Castillo, was kidnapped by Farouk. To find the terror king, they traveled across continents and found themselves trapped in a two hundred decades-old battle for the “cradle of civilization”.
Towards the end of the series, Farouk is shot by a smuggler named Simon Hardwick, the real Farouk. What will happen next?
Casting Choices We Can Expect
There are seven main characters in Blood and Treasure. Therefore, if the series continues further, we can expect the same casting. Matt Barr will play the role of Danny McNamara, the antique expert and the protagonist of the series. Sofia Pernas will play the role of Lexi Vagiri, the thief. They both unite and search for Karim Farouk, a terrorist leader who weaponizes stolen artifacts, played by Oded Fehr.
Dr. Ana Castillo, the mentor of the male lead and an expert on Cleopatra, will be played by Alica Cappola. While the duo was searching for Farouk, McNamara rescues Simon Hardwick, played by James Callis, an international smuggler who was kidnapped by Farouk.
However, in contrast to all anticipations, Hardwick shot Farouk, and he is revealed as the true Farouk. Katia Winter will play the role of Gwen Karlsson, an Interpol agent who is assigned with the case of Farouk. Michael James Shaw will play Adam Shaw, who supplies arms to Farouk in exchange for the stolen artifacts.
When Can We Expect The Release
Blood and Treasure began on 21st May 2019 and concluded on 26th June of the same year. Commenting on the possibility of season 2, the Executive Vice President of the Current Programs of CBS stated that the “story pitch” for “season 2” is ready. Though there is no official date announced, these words make the fans highly optimistic.
Summing It Up
Constant postponing and lack of official confirmations remain a nightmare of unsurpassable horror of the fans. However, like many others of its kind, Blood and Diamonds are also in limbo due to the pandemic. We can only hope that CBS will release season 2 at the earliest and the wait will be over.
